HORN in North America
Hartmetallwerkzeugfabrik Paul Horn GmbH was founded by Mr. Paul Horn in Waiblingen, Germany on November 1, 1969. The business was originally known as Paul Horn Einstechtechnik with locations in Gomaringen and Nehren, Germany.
Focusing on demanding machining operations that required precision grooving, side turning, and slot milling tools; HORN quickly developed a reputation as innovative problem solvers for the metal working industry.
During the 1990’s a series of international subsidiaries were established in key markets to oversee sales and distribution of HORN's range of high precision grooving tools.
Realizing that the North American market was very large, however substantially different from the European market, Horn USA, Inc. was established with offices in Franklin, TN in 1997. Horn USA, Inc. officially began supporting North America during the IMTS show in September 1998. Rapid sales growth followed the exhibition. The initial success laid the groundwork for manufacturing imperial product at the Franklin, TN location.
In 2001, Horn USA increased the size of the facility and received its first CNC grinding machines to emulate German production. The manufacture of precision cutting tools in the USA allowed for shorter delivery times of imperial sized product, metric items and custom tooling, contributing to Horn USA’s tremendous sales growth.
Horn USA’s second expansion increased its footprint in the middle of 2005. The space acquisition gave Horn USA room to double its manufacturing capacity to support the growing business across the USA, Canada and Mexico.
The third expansion in 2013 increased the total area to approximately 40,000 sq. ft. under one roof. Horn USA currently manufactures standard and special products from our Supermini®, Mini, Mini Milling, DR Reaming as well as the 312/315/314 range of products. Production consists of more than 25 CNC grinding machines as well as support equipment.
In 2020, Horn USA moved into a new state of the art facility approximately 0.5 miles from the original office suite. The new headquarters for North American operations is approximately 118,000 sq. ft. under one roof.
While we were growing substantially in sales and manufacturing capacity, we simultaneously improved our logistics center, product design systems, and increased space for technical and customer support staff. Included within our facility is a dedicated training center for theoretical training, and practical demonstration.
Our manufacturing and sales operates under an ISO 9001 approved quality assurance scheme and its environmental systems are certified as being ISO 14001 compliant.
Today, our customer base includes automotive, automotive supply, aerospace, medical and toolmaking, and mold making sectors. Once HORN became established in the market, the product range grew constantly, as did the number of support personnel.
Horn USA welcomes you to visit the facility and meet some of the 90+ employees responsible for precision HORN products manufactured and supported in the North America.
