International Manufacturing & Technology Show

IMTS 2014

The 2014 installation of IMTS took place in Chicago, IL from September 8-11, 2014.  More than 114,000 visitors from 112 countries attended the 30th installation of North America’s largest and longest running manufacturing exhibition under 115,200 m2 (1.24 million ft2) at the McCormick Place convention center.

The excitement and positive energy of the show was prevalent in Horn USA’s 250 m2 (2,500 ft2) booth.  Visitors were introduced to new HORN products and discussed manufacturing needs and requirements with on-site application engineers based in North America.

Of the new products, tools with through coolant technology were the topic of many discussions as HORN recently introduced S100 grooving and parting-off inserts with .125” cutting width.  The expansion of S100 indexable inserts in the inch range utilizes geometries .E, .EN, .FY, .N, and .3V.

Tangential milling was also of high interest and a great topic of discussion.  The new tangential milling system, with patented indexable rhombic inserts, produces a true 90° angle in milling applications.  These rhombic inserts are also utilized in chamfer milling angles of 45° and 60”.

Horn USA was pleased to provide a private meeting room and informal meeting areas available for customers attending IMTS 2014 who required confidential discussion settings.

Montreal Manufacturing Technology Show 2014

MMTS 2014

The most successful MMTS show to date has wrapped up.  Visitors to the shared Drillmex and Horn USA booth were impressed with the variety of tooling an services offered.  Our on hand specialists were able to review many difficult applications and make recommendations tailored to each process.

Students who came to the booth on the last day of MMTS asked many questions that were well thought out.  We applaud their efforts and see the future of North American manufacturing is in good hands.
